RC 1 DVD

If you order Vista Beta 2 will you automatically recieve RC 1 dvd by post, as I am thinking of skipping installing the Beta copy. Thanks

Yes. You will also get RC1. Why skip beta 2? Just curious. "tony2griff" wrote in message

Just going on the number of problems loading Beta 2 thought RC1 might be more stable

Most of the problems installing Vista involve downloaded images and how they are burned to dvd. Obviously dvd's by mail would have no such problem. If you are not planning to do any testing and bug reporting after installation then I would skip RC1 as well and just wait for the release.

I disagree. Most of the problems installing Vista involve chair-to-mouse incompatibility errors.

Good thing the Upgrade Advisor isn't factoring in the user, eh?

My recommendation would be the upgrade advisor being the first step in SETUP.

It is. It is on the splash screen when the dvd is loaded.

MY idea would be to have tio RUN it prior to running Setup.

True dat! Once you are at the splash screen it is much to late to replace the user...

Since you are at the desktop (the option does not appear when you boot the dvd), you are running it before Setup. If you can see the option you aren't running Setup yet, just looking at its splash screen. You can choose to run the Advisor or read the read.me file, or you can choose to run Setup with 'Install Now.' Why is this so hard to understand?

I have ordered Vista Beta 2 by post will I automatically recieve the upgrade to RC 1 as I am thinking of skipping loading the Beta version. Ta.

Yes you will as long as you are at the same address as given on your original request. However, you may not be able to activate RC-1 unless you have acivated beta 2. Clever, eh?

Where did you get your information about activation? There is nothing that I know of that would prevent activation of any product like you describe.

I ran across similar information about having to activate Beta 2 or else not being able to run RC1. That would be pretty stupid, since there are quite a few of us that can't get Beta 2 installed, much less activated.

I can't remember if it was from Cnet or Ziff Davis, but I seem to recall hearing the same thing on a pod cast. Probably a rumor started by Dvorak!
